Microsoft Skype for Business is an enterprise unified communications tool that provides services such as Instant Messaging, presence, online collaboration, desktop sharing, and voice and video communication.

Skype Phone installation requests require 7 days notice in order to be processed on the requested date.

How to request this service:

​Faculty, staff, and graduate students:

All faculty, staff and graduate accounts are automatically activated with the basic Skype for Business license, on a nightly basis.  If you are unable to sign in please contact the IST Service Desk for support. 

Undergraduate students:

Skype for Business is not enabled for student Office 365 accounts. It is recommended students use Microsoft Teams for communications.

Average length of time to complete request:

All new accounts are activated nightly upon confirming an active NEXUS\WatIAM account. This process may take up to 24 hours depending on when you activated your account.

Note: Because of the variances in hardware, and connectivity, IST and local computing representatives can only support the Skype for Business mobile apps and voice and video components of the system on a best-efforts basis. You may use it at your discretion, and while IST will exercise all support options available, IST cannot guarantee resolution of any issues experienced as a result of using these features.

Pricing/Cost:

No cost for basic Skype for Business accounts.

Enterprise Voice (EV) accounts are $8*/month for each softphone client provided by IST. 

*$8/month plus $15.50/month for zero to three months of forwarding from the existing 3xxxx extension to the new 4xxxx extension. If no forwarding is requested, there is no forwarding charge.
