Joining the Institute for Computer Research

Individual membership in the Institute for Computer Research (ICR)

Candidates submit a brief application to be approved by the Board of Directors of ICR. Membership requires a faculty appointment at the University of Waterloo and a record of activity in research in computing.

Membership is virtually automatic for those faculty members primarily concerned with research in computers and computing. Individuals who are primarily applying computer technology to another discipline should explain how their work will advance the state-of-the-art in computing.

Federated group membership

Groups federated with ICR help interact with industry, help find new industrial relationships by hosting industry visitors and presenting at briefings for industry, and contribute generally help foster research and the communication of research results.
