Postdoctoral position in quantum machine learning with superconducting devices

A postdoctoral position is available at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC), University of Waterloo, in the area of quantum machine learning with superconducting devices. The position is with the Superconducting Quantum Devices group and will be supervised by Adrian Lupascu.

The position will focus on quantum machine learning and applications implemented using superconducting quantum devices. The position will involve one or more of the following topics: modelling of superconducting quantum devices, including effective Hamiltonian and noise models, analytical and numerical modelling of quantum evolution in closed and open system settings, control and measurement of superconducting devices, development of machine learning applications.

Applicants for this position should hold a PhD degree in physics, or computer science. Applicants should preferably have prior research experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, superconducting device theory, software development, quantum control, and quantum algorithms. However, we will consider candidates with expertise in other relevant areas, such as quantum information theory, atomic physics, quantum optics, condensed matter, and quantum materials, if they have a strong commitment to making the transition to a new research field. Applicants should have a strong record of publications in highly recognized peer-reviewed journals.

The appointment will be for one year with the possibility of renewal subject to continuation of the project funding and performance. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

The University of Waterloo respects, appreciates, and encourages diversity. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals including women, members of visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples, and persons with disabilities.

The deadline for applications is June 30. However, the search will continue beyond this date if the position is not filled. Please forward your curriculum vitae including a list of publications and reference contact information to:
