DESCRIPTION:QUANTUM OPTICS OF STRONGLY CORRELATED MANY-BODY SYSTEMS\n\nIGOR
MEKHOV\, UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD\n\nWe show that quantum backaction of weak
measurement constitutes a\nnovel source of competitions in many-body syst
ems\, thus leading to new\nphenomena. We consider a system of ultracold at
 oms in optical lattices\ntrapped inside a high-Q cavity\, which requires a
fully quantum\ndescription of both light and matter waves. The QND measur
ements lead\nto the generation of genuinely multipartite entangled modes o
 f the\nmatter fields\, which have analogies in quantum optics (e.g. two-mo
 de\nsqueezing)\, but are non-Gaussian.
