DESCRIPTION:QUANTUM RANDOMNESS EXPANSION - NEW RESULTS\n\nCARL MILLER\, UNI
VERSITY OF MICHIGAN\n\nIs it possible to create a source of provable rando
m numbers? An\naffirmative answer to this question would be highly useful
in\ninformation security\, where random numbers are needed to provide the\
nkeys for encryption algorithms. Bell inequality violation experiments\nof
fer hope for this problem\, since the outputs of a Bell violation\nmust be
non-classical and therefore not fully predictable to an\nadversary. The c
hallenge is to prove something stronger: that the\noutputs can be processe
d (extracted) to obtain uniformly random data.\nThis leads to some complex
  and beautiful mathematics.
