DESCRIPTION:PRACTICAL CONTINUOUS VARIABLE QUANTUM COMMUNICATION IN FIBRE AN
 D FREE\nSPACE SYSTEMS\n\nCHRISTOPH MARQUARDT\, MAX PLANCK INSTITUTE FOR T
HE SCIENCE OF LIGHT\n\nI will review our recent activities in continuous v
ariable QKD that\naims for the deployment of QKD equipment compatible wit
h current\ntelecom standards and research in satellite QKD that will make
it\npossible to bridge long distances. In optical fibre systems\ncontinuo
us variable quantum cryptography reaches GHz speed and offers\nefficient i
ntegration with known telecommunication techniques\,\nespecially in short
inner-city or data center links. Sending and\nreceiving components\, inc
luding quantum random number generators\, can\nbe efficiently built in int
egrated components. Optical free space\ncommunication is a reliable means
to transmit classical and quantum\ninformation. Free space links offer a
 d-hoc establishment in\nintra-city communication\, air-to-ground or satell
 ite-to-ground\nscenarios.
