DESCRIPTION:DICKE'S SUPERRADIANCE IN ASTROPHYSICS\n\nFERESHTEH RAJABI\, UN
IVERSITY OF WESTERN ONTARIO\n\nIt is generally assumed that in the interst
ellar medium much of the\nemission emanating from atomic and molecular tra
nsitions within a\nradiating gas happen independently for each atom or mol
ecule\, but as\nwas pointed out by R. H. Dicke in a seminal paper several
decades ago\nthis assumption does not apply in all conditions. As will be
 discussed\nin my presentation\, and following Dicke's original analysis\,
closely\npacked atoms/molecules can interact with their common electromagn
etic\nfield and radiate coherently through an effect he named superradianc
 e.
