 re superconductors features\nan enigmatic pseudogap region that is charact
 erized by a partial\nsuppression of low-energy electronic excitations. In 
 order to\nunderstand its microscopic nature\, it is imperative to identify
  the\nfull symmetries both prior to and within the pseudogap region. In th
 is\ntalk\, I will describe our experimental results of symmetry properties
 \non YBa2Cu3Oy across a wide temperature and doping range using a\nrecentl
 y developed nonlinear optical rotational anisotropy technique.
