  of quantum\nmechanics. It can be used to attain functionality lying beyon
 d the\nreach of classical technologies. In practice\, however\, finding th
 e\nbest way of harnessing entanglement for a given task is extremely\nchal
 lenging and one is often forced to resort to ad hoc methods. The\nmathemat
 ical structure of entanglement- enabled strategies is poorly\nunderstood a
 nd many basic questions remain open. This lack of\nunderstanding has preve
 nted us from fully exploiting the advantages\nthat entanglement can offer 
 for operational tasks.
