 We develop tools to\ncharacterize such features operationally\, looking fo
 r ways to detect\,\nquantify\, and utilize them. Some recent results I wil
 l report on\nregard the use of such features in the discrimination of phys
 ical\nprocesses\, a task within the area of quantum metrology.
