SUMMARY:Engineering magnetism and chiral edge state of quantum anomalous Ha
 ll\nsystem
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:KE HE\, TSINGHUA UNIVERSITY\n\nThe quantum anomalous Hall (QAH
) effect is a quantum Hall effect\ninduced by spontaneous magnetization in
stead of an external magnetic\nfield. The effect occurs in two-dimensional
(2D) insulators with\ntopologically nontrivial electronic band structure
which is\ncharacterized by a non-zero Chern number. The experimental obser
vation\nof the QAH effect in thin films of magnetically doped (Bi\,Sb)2Te3
\ntopological insulators (TIs) paves the way for practical applications\no
f dissipationless quantum Hall edge states.
