 n be profoundly modified with the\nhelp of laser beams. They can modify th
 e wavefunction of neutral atoms\nin such a way that they show behavior of 
 charged particles\, e.g.\nelectrons in high magnetic fields. In this way\,
  synthetic magnetic\nfields and spin-orbit coupling have been realized\, a
 nd a supersolid\nphase has been observed. A supersolid is superfluid and b
 reaks\ntranslational symmetry\, i.e. it has shape.
