 e for the generation of entangled\nmultimode photonic states encoded in te
 mporal modes of light. The\nscheme employs a nonlinear down-conversion pro
 cess in an optical loop\nto generate one- and higher-dimensional tensor ne
 twork states of\nlight. We illustrate the principle with the generation of
  two\ndifferent classes of entangled tensor network states and report on a
 \nvariational algorithm to simulate the ground-state physics of\nmany-body
  systems.
