SUMMARY:How to learn a quantum state
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:JOHN WRIGHT\, MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (MIT)\n\nIn
the area of quantum state learning\, one is given a small number of\n\"sa
mples\" of a quantum state\, and the goal is use them to determine a\nfeat
ure of the state. Examples include learning the entire state\n(\"quantum s
 tate tomography\")\, determining whether it equals a target\nstate (\"quan
tum state certification\")\, or estimating its von Neumann\nentropy. These
are problems which are not only of theoretical\ninterest\, but are also c
ommonly used in current-day implementation and\nverification of quantum te
 chnologies.
