 are in the middle of a revolution in phononics\, where it seems\nuseful an
 d possible to control phonons on the mesoscale as we have\nphotons in the 
 last few decades. In this talk I will describe our\ntheoretical proposal a
 nd its experimental demonstration (in the group\nof A.N. Vamivakas)) regar
 ding a phonon laser made of the\ncenter-of-mass oscillations of a nanopart
 icle trapped in an optical\ntweezer.
