SUMMARY:SU(2) gauge theory on digital quantum computers
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:JESSE STRYKER\, THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON\n\nResults from th
e first digital quantum simulation of an SU(2) gauge\ntheory are presented
. This was done by analytically constructing\ngauge-invariant states and i
mplementing a Trotterized time evolution\noperator for that basis on super
conducting hardware. By using error\nmitigation techniques\, electric ener
gy measurements could be reliably\nextracted following one Trotter-Suzuki
time step. This work is a small\nbut important step toward determining wha
t field-theoretic\ncalculations will be possible using near-term devices.
