SUMMARY:Exploring the Unruh Effect for many oscillating photon detectors\ni
 nside a microwave cavity
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:SEMINAR FEATURING HUI WANG\, DARTMOUTH COLLEGE\n\nIn the Unruh
Effect (UE) a uniformly accelerating observer\n(photodetector) is expected
to ’see' thermal photons in vacuum while\nan inertial observer would se
e none. A longstanding challenge to\ndemonstrate the UE in the lab is that
a photodetector's required\nproper acceleration seems impossibly high for
any current or planned\ntable top experiment. In this presentation\, we d
escribe two\ncomplementary ways to realize close analogues of the UE that
overcome\nthe apparent need for large proper accelerations.
