SUMMARY:IQC Student Seminar featuring Mohammad Ayyash
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:EFFECTIVE JC AND ANTI-JC INTERACTIONS VIA STRONG DRIVING  \n\n
The Jaynes-Cummings Model (JCM) approximates the Quantum Rabi Model\n(QRM)
in some regimes and is exactly solvable by only keeping the\nrotating or
 `energy-conserving’ terms and dropping the\ncounter-rotating or `non-ene
rgy conserving’ terms. \n\nSince the proposal of the JCM\, questions on
the effect and presence of\ncounter-rotating terms popped up.\n\nUsing str
ong driving\, one can induce the effects of the\ncounter-rotating terms on
  a comparable timescale to the rotating\nterms. In such a scenario\, one c
an create a Schrödinger cat state in\na resonant manner without the need
for any type of Kerr nonlinearity.\n\nIn this talk\, we review the QRM and
its descendant\, the JCM. Then\, we\ndiscuss the realization of a Schröd
inger cat state\, its challenges in\npractice and how to solve them.
