 ing from the early toy models that first\nproposed the formation of Majora
 na bound states\, I aim to convey an\nunderstanding of why topological qub
 its are so resistant to\ndecoherence. I will introduce the “ingredients
 ” necessary to build\na Majorana device and some of the challenges invol
 ved. Finally\, I will\ndiscuss the field's current state and what might be
  next on the\njourney to making topological quantum computing a reality. N
