SUMMARY:IQC Student Seminar featuring Andrew Jena
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:AEQUO: A COMPREHENSIVE MEASUREMENT ALLOCATION PROTOCOL\n\nAbstr
act: The variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) is a hybrid\nquantum-classi
cal algorithm for solving the electronic structure\nproblem\, a problem fo
undational to the field of computational\nchemistry. In the VQE\, a classi
cal optimizer directs the state\npreparation protocol while a quantum devi
ce is used to measure the\nexpectation value of the Hamiltonian with the p
repared state. We\ndeveloped the adaptive estimation of quantum observable
s (AEQuO)\nprotocol in an attempt to use all of information from the measu
rement\noutcomes to minimize the number of measurements needed. I will giv
e an\noverview of the VQE and the techniques we employ in our protocol\, a
nd\nI will discuss where our approach fits in with the previous\nmeasureme
 nt allocation techniques.
