SUMMARY:Integration of Optical Ground Stations for satellite-based Quantum
 Key\nDistribution into a quantum network
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:IQC SEMINAR - STEFANIE HAEUSLER\, DEPARTMENT OF OPTICAL SATELLI
 TE\nLINKS\, INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATIONS AND NAVIGATION\, GERMANY\n\nQuantu
 m Nano Centre\, 200 University Ave W\, Room QNC 1201 Waterloo\, ON\,\nCA N
2L 3G1\n\nQuantum Key Distribution (QKD) is a promising method to guarante
e\nfuture-proof\, information theoretic security. Since optical fibers\nha
ve an exponential loss with distance\, satellite-based QKD solutions\nare
being developed in order to realize long-distance links.\nTherefore\, Opti
cal Ground Stations for QKD (QKD-OGS) need to be\ndesigned to enable quant
um communication with satellites. Different\nlink configurations will resu
lt in different integration options of\nthe QKD-OGS in the terrestrial fib
er network and therefore impact its\nperformance. Applicable integration o
 ptions are identified and\ndiscussed.
