DESCRIPTION:UNRUH PHENOMENA AND THERMALIZATION FOR QUDIT DETECTORS\n\nQuant
 um-Nano Centre\, 200 University Ave West\, Room QNC 1201 Waterloo\,\nON CA
N2L 3G1\n\nThe Unruh effect is the flat space analogue to Hawking radiati
on\,\ndescribing how an observer in flat spacetime perceives the quantum\n
vacuum state to be in a thermal state when moving along a constantly\nacce
lerated trajectory. This effect is often described operationally\nusing th
 e qubit-based Unruh-DeWitt detector.\n\nWe study Unruh phenomena for more
general qudit detectors coupled to a\nquantized scalar field\, noting the
limitations to the utility of the\ndetailed balance condition as an indica
tor for Unruh thermality of\nhigher-dimensional qudit detector models. We
illustrate these\nlimitations using two types of qutrit detector models ba
sed on the\nspin-1 representations of SU(2) and the non-Hermitian generali
 zation\nof the Pauli observables (the Heisenberg-Weyl operators).\n\n[2309
