 high-impact research areas. In this period of\nrapid development\, the exp
 erimental capabilities needed to build\nquantum computing devices and prot
 otypes are highly specialized and\noften difficult to access. In this publ
 ic talk\, we'll discuss how to\nbuild quantum computing devices one atom a
  time using the ion-trap\napproach. We'll show how we build quantum bits o
 ut of individually\nisolated atoms\, explore how we use them to simulate o
 ther complex\nsystems\, and showcase how we're building open-access hardwa
 re to\nadvance research in this exciting field.
