 lecture I will introduce some of the questions that we may\nwish to answer
  in quantum biology. Then I will focus on excitation\nenergy transport in 
 photosynthetic complexes. I will explain the\ncrucial role of the interpla
 y of quantum coherent evolution with\nenvironmental noise and provide an e
 xplanation of the origin and\nnature of the long-lived coherences that hav
 e been observed in the\nrecent 2-D spectroscopy experiments of the FMO com
 plex.
