SUMMARY:Catelani: Quasiparticle effects in superconducting qubits
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:GIANLUIGI CATELANI\, PETER GRÜNBERG INSTITUTE\, GERMANY\n\nSup
erconducting qubits based on Josephson junctions are a promising\nplatform
for quantum computation\, reaching quality factors of over one\nmillion.
Such high quality factors enable the investigation of\ndecoherence mechani
sms with high accuracy. An intrinsic decoherence\nprocess originates from
the coupling between the qubit degree of\nfreedom\nand the quasiparticles
that tunnel across Josephson junctions. In this\ntalk I will review the ge
neral theory of quasiparticle effects\, valid
