SUMMARY:Pastawski: Using dissipation for quantum information processing.
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:FERNANDO PASTAWSKI\, CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY\n\nIn t
his talk I will focus on dissipative dynamics as a model for\nquantum info
rmation processing (QIP). Arguably\, some form of open\nsystem description
is required in order to model large experimental\nsystems which inevitabl
y exchange information with their environment.\nLindblad master equations
allow describing the effect of the\nenvironment to first non-trivial order
. Within such a model\, it\nbecomes natural to design forms of dissipation
\, where the environment\nis engineered to aid or perform a QIP task.
