 and\nmobile phones are primarily based on the control of electron charge i
 n\nsemiconductors. Although the tremendous progress in micro-fabrication\n
 technologies has accelerated the miniaturization of electronic\ndevices\, 
 the size of devices will soon encounter the fundamental\nphysical limits o
 f that miniaturization. Further scale reduction\nbeyond these limits will 
 require a radical alteration of the concept\nof functional devices.
