 group of units in a field of algebraic numbers is one of\nthe central task
 s of computational algebraic number theory. It is\nbelieved to be hard cla
 ssically\, which is of interest for\ncryptography. In the quantum setting\
 , efficient algorithms were\npreviously known for fields of constant degre
 e. We give a quantum\nalgorithm that is polynomial in the degree of the fi
 eld and the\nlogarithm of its discriminant. This is achieved by combining 
 three new\nresults.
