SUMMARY:Joseph Salfi: Probing quantum superpositions and correlations at th
e\nlevel of single dopant atoms in a semiconductor
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:JOSEPH SALFI\, UNIVERSITY OF NEW SOUTH WALES\n\nThe behavior of
conventional transistors derives from large numbers of\nacceptor and dono
r impurities that promote carriers into the valence\nand conduction bands.
More recently\, nano-electronic devices based on\nthe bound states of ind
ividual dopant impurities in silicon have\nreceived considerable attention
for quantum computation\, due to the\nlong spin coherence times of dopant
s in silicon. This invariably\nrequires control over dopant wavefunctions
and the interactions\nbetween individual dopants [1].
