Why a listing in London could make sense for Canadian early stage technology companies

Featured Speaker: Sarah Baker, Head of North American Strategic Engagement, London Stock Exchange Group

London is the most international stock market in the world, with more international companies listed than any other stock exchange.

Over the past year there has been a surge of North American companies, both large and small, listing in London. In total, approximately 120 North American businesses are now listed on the London Stock Exchange.

This lunch and learn session will cover the reasons why North American companies are choosing to list in London, and why it is a strong financing option for early stage Canadian technology companies looking to grow.

In addition to the Main Market, London offers AIM – the world’s leading market for high growth companies. Through AIM, early stage companies, including university spin outs, are gaining access to institutional investors at a much smaller size than they would in the domestic market - at a lower cost. Importantly, for VC firms London’s markets are providing an exit route for their portfolio companies, onto a liquid public market.

This is an informal opportunity for early stage companies, VCs, and other advisors to learn more about how London can be a capital raising venue for early stage business in the Waterloo Corridor, and to explore successful recent North American case studies.
