The Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) is looking for chaperones for the Quantum Cryptography School for Young Students (QCSYS), August 8-17, 2019.
We accept 40 high school students from around the world to IQC at the University of Waterloo. They stay at the University of Waterloo campus, usually in the Ron Eydt Village (REV). The school runs August 9-16, 2019 with students arriving on Thursday, August 8 and departing Saturday, August 17.
Chaperones are required to supervise the students the duration of the school, including staying with them during the lessons. Work begins Thursday, August 8 with airport pickups, greeting students who are dropped off and helping students settle in.
While no two days will be exactly the same, you can expect the following format:
|7:00 am||Wake-up call|
|7:15 am||Get ready and have breakfast at REV|
|8:30 am||Walk to IQC|
|5:30 pm||Dinner at IQC|
|7:00 pm||Evening activity|
|9:00 pm||Free time in REV|
|10:30 pm||Lights out|
Evening activities include outings such as laser tag, movies, a sports night and dinner. One day will include a group outing to Niagara Falls.
On Saturday, August 17, you will make sure students are ready and on time for their ride to the airport. Once all the students have departed your work is done.
We are looking for three female and three male chaperones who are 19 years old or older. All chaperones must get a Vulnerable Sector Police Check. You will be reimbursed for your police check.
During the school you will stay with the students in REV; you will get your own room. Your meals, accommodations and evening activities will be covered by the school. You will be paid $1000 for the 10 days.
Prior to the school we will hold mandatory meetings to introduce the chaperones to each other and to go over all expectations and rules for supervising minors.
If you are interested in applying to chaperone or have any questions please email email@example.com with a resume and a brief paragraph of why you'd be suited for this position.
Deadline to apply is May 31, 2019.
