Aiping Yu honoured with national award

Aiping Yu, a WIN member and chemical engineering professor at Waterloo, has been awarded the Rutherford Medal in Chemistry by the Royal Society of Canada (RSC).

Yu is one of 19 Canadian award recipients honoured by the RSC for their outstanding achievements in advancing knowledge and understanding of the past and present.

Anita Layton named Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada

Anita Layton, WIN member and professor of Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Pharmacy and Biology, has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC). The prestigious RSC award is the highest honour an individual can achieve in the arts, social sciences and sciences. It reflects Layton’s outstanding career as a researcher, academic and mentor. Layton is one of 102 new Fellows elected this year by their peers for their outstanding scholarly, scientific and artistic achievements.

Spinoff wins backing from major packaging company

A startup company founded by a Waterloo Engineering professor and two of his graduate students has won US $250,000 to expand and commercialize green technology for the packaging industry.
