Oleg Stukalov, PhD, provides support for the development of partnerships with industry, oversees WIN’s Corporate Membership Program, and facilitates grant applications to industry partnerships programs such as NSERC, OCE, and Mitacs.
He joined WIN in February 2018. He holds a PhD in Applied Physics from the Academy of Sciences in his native Belarus. Oleg studied organic electronics and nanoscale imaging using scanning probe microscopes. Shortly following his PhD, Oleg received the prestigious NATO Science Fellowship award and started his post-doc appointment in the lab of Dr. John Dutcher at the University of Guelph, in the Department of Physics. His research in the area of bio-nanotechnology resulted in a serendipitous lab discovery, which led to the foundation of a spin-off company, Mirexus Biotechnologies Inc. in 2008. Oleg served as a Chief Executive Officer of Mirexus Biotechnologies until he passed company leadership to new management in 2011.
From 2011 to January 2018, Oleg worked at Wilfrid Laurier University where he managed industry partnerships and technology transfer activities.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
