Passport

A passport is an identification document issued by your government. You must have a valid passport to apply for Canadian immigration documents and to guarantee re-admission to your home country following your stay in Canada.

How to apply for a passport

You must apply for a passport through your country of citizenship.

It is your responsibility to make sure that your passport remains valid during your stay in Canada, so pay close attention to the expiry date. Remember that your study permit will not be extended beyond the expiration date of your passport, so be sure to renew your passport at least six months before it expires.

Contact your country’s embassy or consulate for information on renewal or if your passport is lost, damaged, or stolen.
