Some Engineering students have created a 3:00 – 5:00 minute video vignette sharing their experience on an international exchange. Students will share ‘The global perspective they’ve gained through travel, study, and/or work abroad’ which is the theme of the photo contest as well. Topics covered in the video may include: Where they went, highlights of their experience and what they learned. Videos will be shared through Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, etc. Videos will be shared on September 21, 22 and 24, 2020.

Learning an additional language provides an opportunity to explore the diverse world around you. The Culture and Language Studies department offers a diverse range of language courses. As a thank you for all of your hard work as a valued postdoctoral fellow, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs is pleased to offer you the opportunity to pick up a free gift: a postdoc t-shirt from the Waterloo store. Supplies are limited and must be picked up in-person at the W Store Essentials pick up spot in the Student Life Centre between September 21 and October 2. We will keep some t-shirts aside for those unable to travel to campus during COVID-19 and will allow you to pick them up once the campus is fully operational. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship these items.

Calling all alumni and current students to compete in the first AMAZING SCIENCE RACE! Register to join us for a race around the world of science including special guest video appearances from faculty, alumni and MORE! Each mission will be assigned a unique number of points based on the difficulty of the question or challenge. All missions can be completed virtually from around the world! The Race will begin at 9AM on Friday September 25th and run until Sunday, September 27th to allow for alumni and students across the globe to compete!

In a rush to interpret an uncertain future, some theorists have suggested 70-years of rapid global urbanization might be over. But has the death of cities been greatly exaggerated?
