The Student Service Centre (The Centre) is a new department on campus that will integrate a number of student services to address students’ perception of getting the “run around” on campus. 

The creation and launch of The Centre is part of the Vibrant Student Experience strategic theme, and is a partnership between Graduate Studies & Post Doctoral Affairs, Registrar’s Office, and the Student Success Office, as well as involvement from Student Financial Services. 

This presentation provides background on the series of projects formed for the creation and launch of the Centre, talks about scope and timeline, and explains some basic concepts of how The Centre is expected to work with front line Specialists and subject matter experts within the core departments.

Bios:

Nancy Heide is currently the Director The Centre at the University of Waterloo and has a passion to improve the student experience. Nancy has a wealth of experience including student services, student entrepreneurship (Velocity), public affairs, marketing and undergraduate recruitment, advancement and alumni affairs. Nancy has in-depth knowledge of providing superior service to students, creating and building a department, and managing a diverse high-impact team. Nancy is a grad of Waterloo with a BA in English Literature & Languages and loves to garden and spends hours in arenas cheering on her boys as they play rep hockey and lacrosse. 

Pam Fluttert is the Manager of the Project Management Office within IST and has been managing the program to create and launch The Centre for the last 1.5 years.  She spends her free time writing, at the barn or show rings with her horses, and studying for her Masters.
