|Topic:||Using MappedIn to Help You Find Your Way Around Campus|
|Date:||Friday October 10, 2014|
|Time:||9:00 am - 9:45 am|
|Speakers:||Io Hanson (Product Manager MappedIn), Ed Wei (Director of Engineering, MappedIn)|
MappedIn is a company that was started at the University of Waterloo in 2011 and since then has grown to offer wayfinding to a variety of locations. In 2012, MappedIn launched an app at UW that would allow authenticated users to get room-to-room navigation on their mobile phone. Since then, the MappedIn app has evolved to include 3D maps of campus, multiple locations, and vocal recognition for users to search for locations.
At the seminar, Io and Ed will discuss the history of MappedIn and the current status of the app at UW. MappedIn can be used by non-authenticated guests for outdoor navigation on their phones and also at kiosks in the lobby of some buildings. Next, there will be a demonstration of the MappedIn manager suite that allows clients to make changes and control their data. Finally, we’ll open up the floor for a Q&A period.
This seminar will be webcasted/recorded.
