Professional school preparation

Admission to professional programs is very competitive. It is important for students to start planning early for admissibility into professional schools.

Each school/program has specific:

  • course requirements
  • application deadlines
  • relevant experience required
  • admission testing (i.e. MCAT, GMAT) requirements
  • required references

Give yourself time to properly complete the applications. Most graduate schools and scholarship applications require letters of reference. Be sure to request well in advance of due date. Professors will not always be available to provide letters of reference on last minute notice.

For requirements and application information for Professional Schools (medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, teaching) in Ontario visit the Ontario Undergraduate Application Centre website.

If you have questions regarding application procedures, admission requirements etc. please contact the schools directly.

Visit the University of Waterloo Centre for Career Action for handouts and additional information regarding professional schools. Representatives from faculties of education and health profession programs visit the University of Waterloo each October. Check the Centre for Career Action Term at a Glance page for these events.

Career advisors are available to assist you with professional/graduate school planning, application review, and professional school mock interviews.  To book an appointment, come for a drop in or attend a workshop, see Centre for Career Action Appointments/Workshops.
