The SHAD Waterloo enrichment program for high school students with strong interests and potential in sciences, technology, engineering and entrepreneurship will have a public open house to share what we've been working on during the month of July.
- Thursday, July 30
- 1:30-4pm
- Conrad Grebel University College, Great Hall
The open house will include displays about our activities including workshops, lectures, guest speakers, and recreation.
We will also share our prototypes and business models of our design projects. The design challenge for this year, shared by all 12 host SHAD campuses across Canada, is:
"Why don’t you go play outside?"
Between the increasing pull of screen time, highly structured activities, and concern for perceived risks outside the home, we have become an increasingly interior, sedentary society. What might we create to encourage Canadians to play outside and reconnect with the physical world around them to improve well-being?
SHAD Waterloo is hosted by the Department of Knowledge Integration, and several of our faculty, staff, and students are involved.
