August 2015 D2L Update

The following are changes that were brought to Waterloo LEARN with the August 2015 D2L update:

  1. There is enhanced security for content file topics. As a best practice, do not include any sensitive documents within your Waterloo LEARN course shell until you are ready for the students to view these files. This holds true whether the files are in the Course Materials > Content section or in Manage Files. In some circumstances, it may be necessary to post sensitive files early. If this is the case, then ensure they are accessible through Course Materials > Content and that you have set a Release Condition based on role, date, group, or that it is in draft status.
  2. In Discussions, the topic score details screen has been changed to make it consistent with other assessment screens.
  3. The Submission log in a Dropbox folder now indicates if a file has been deleted by an instructor or TA. If it has been deleted in error, it can now be restored.
  4. The TA Level-1.5, TA Level-2, and TA Level-3 roles have been changed to allow editing of Dropbox folders. This change was necessary to ensure that they can continue to grade student submissions. These elevated rights will be removed in October when the fix becomes available.
