Release conditions can be used to restrict access to  content or course items.  Multiple release conditions can be applied to individual items with ALL or ANY condition requirements applied.

Note: Once a user meets a release condition, the condition cannot be reset. 

Content Modules

Click on Content from the navbar

Once in Content, selecting the Module from the left hand side will expand the release conditions area and allow you to add restrictions and release conditions.

Note: Selecting the module will allow you to add release conditions to the entire Module or you can select specific items (topics) within the Module and apply Release Conditions only to that item.

Adding Release Conditions to a Module

To add a release condition to an entire module select the module on the left hand side panel.

Content Release Conditions

After you click the Add dates and restrictions link, you will see a Create and a Browse button under the release conditions section of the page. Browse will only produce results, if you have already created Release Conditions.

Release Condition CreateTo Create a Release Condition click the Create button. This will open a new window.

From the Condition Type drop down menu choose the Condition Type relevant for this module. 

Note: you must select an indented category option, not the category heading, for the Condition Details to become available.

Select the condition detail that corresponds with the condition category you have selected and click the Create button. You be returned to the Content page. 

Ensure you click the Update button or the release conditions you have added will not be saved.

Adding Release Conditions to Topic within a Module

To add a release condition to an item within a module click the module on the left hand side to select it. 

Click the down arrow next to the desired item and select Edit properties-in-place.

 Click Add dates and restrictions and proceed adding conditions in the same manner as Modules.

Adding Release conditions to a Dropbox

To add Release Conditions to a dropbox, click Submit in the course navbar.

Then select Dropbox​.

Select Edit Folder from the dropdown menu associated with the desired dropbox.

Select the Restrictions tab along the top.

From the Restrictions tab click the Create and Attach button. This will open a new window. From the Condition Type drop down menu choose the Condition Type relevant for this module.

Select the condition detail that corresponds with the condition category you have selected and click the Create button. 

Ensure you click the Save, Save and Close or Save and New button to save the release conditions added.

Adding Release Conditions to Quizzes and Surveys

To add Release Conditions to a quiz, select Quizzes from Submit on the navbar and select Edit from the drop down menu of the desired quiz. Select the Restrictions tab.

From the Restrictions tab click the Create and Attach button. This will open a new window. From the Condition Type drop down menu choose the Condition Type relevant for this module.

Select the condition detail that corresponds with the condition category you have selected and click the Create button. 

Ensure you click the Save, Save and Close or Save and New button to save the release conditions added.

Adding Release Conditions to Discussions

To add Release Conditions to a discussion Forum (Restrictions applied at this level will cascade to all topics included in the Forum) or Topic, edit the topic by choosing the down arrow to the right of the Topic title and select the Edit Topic option and select the Restrictions tab along the top.

Select the condition detail that corresponds with the condition category you have selected and click the Create button.
