  • Use copyright protected works in the classroom, LEARN, or through Course Reserves
  • Choose alternate options for using materials, if necessary

In this session, participants will be introduced to copyright concepts as they apply to the writing and publication of their thesis on UWSpace. This session will cover:

  • Your copyright responsibilities when writing your thesis
  • Considerations for using your own work

  • Copyright and licensing as they apply to publication
  • Your rights as an author, and tips on how to keep them
  • Suggestions of helpful resources for publication
  • Questionable publisher practices, and how to avoid them

The Library and Writing and Communication Centre present a 30-minute lesson on addressing the most common problems in the researching and writing process, followed by time to work through your own assignment and receive one-on-one help, regardless of where you are in the researching/writing process. Attend the lesson, drop in for a consultation, or both!

Take your literature review one step further.  This workshop is geared towards graduate students and researchers who wish to conduct a systematic review for either a thesis, coursework or journal publication.  A ‘systematic review’, as opposed to a traditional literature review, uses a structured methodology to answer a focused research question.  It is transparent, reproducible, and involves an exhaustive search of the literature using explicit criteria for study selection.  By the end of this workshop you will have gained an understanding of systematic review methods in the social science
