Display: Reconciliation, resistance, resurgenceExport this event to calendar

Thursday, April 5, 2018 (all day)

Students in ARTS 130 have created posters incorporating their research on decolonization and Indigenous resistance from the course "Reconciliation, Resistance, Resurgence" and will be on display throughout the day in the Dana Porter Library lobby.

Students will be available from 10:00 to 11:00 am to talk about their work, presented as part of the ongoing Unsettling Conversations teaching sessions.

The course (Inquiry and communication), is focused largely on the discipline of English, with a theme of "Reconciliation, Resistance, Resurgence," looking at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the location of University of Waterloo on traditional Six Nations territory, stories and testimony, and literary works by Maria Campbell and Leanne Betasamosake Simpson. The students' research projects involved literary and historical/archival resources, looking at the creation of the Indian Act, the residential schools, and the long history of Indigenous resistance.
