Getting familiar with Agent Based Modeling - GIS - Thursday, February 27thExport this event to calendar

Thursday, February 27, 2020 — 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM EST

In this workshop, we will explore agent based modeling using spatial data as an environment.

An agent-based model (ABM) is a class of computational models for simulating the actions and interactions of autonomous agents (both individual or collective entities such as organizations or groups) with a view to assessing their effects on the system as a whole. - Wikipedia

NetLogo is an Open Source software that uses procedural code to create a space to spawn and observe "agents" within parameters you set.

We will cover some simple procedural coding, uploading a raster while preserving its space, creating agents, having them move across a known surface and output the collected data in a chart.
