October is Canadian Library Month, a time when your Library takes the opportunity to celebrate the role we have in teaching, learning and research at University of Waterloo.
Each year in October, University of Waterloo Library hosts its biggest event of the year - Library Day - to show our appreciation for the students, faculty and staff that we serve every day! This year's Library Day is better than ever. A new Fall Fair theme promises a day filled with free food and fun!
This year's theme, "Open in order to..." prompts us to think about the practical benefits of making scholarship openly available, to consider how and why open scholarship should be pursued at all levels of higher education, and to encourage discussion on how to achieve these objectives.
October is United Way month at the University of Waterloo, and the Library is showing it's colours in support of the local organization.
Dana Porter and Davis Centre libraries, along with many other departments on campus, draped themselves in red streamers and balloons on October 3rd, the annual Day of Red. Take this opportunity to learn more about the United Way, and keep your eyes open for fundraising activites happing across campus throughout the month!
Construction has started at Dana Porter and Davis Centre libraries, and there may be noise disruptions. You can get free earplugs from the circulation desks at both locations. Keep reading to learn about the great changes coming in 2018!
Science Literacy Week is a week-long celebration of science-based activities that highlight our outstanding scientists and science communicators from coast-to-coast. Here's how we are celebrating at the University of Waterloo:
In celebration of the University of Waterloo's 60th anniversary and Canada's 150th year since confederation, the Library's Geospatial Centre has created a graphic visualization of the City of Waterloo's population growth, from 1855 to 2016.
Starting Sunday July 23, Davis Centre Library will be open 24 hours, except for closing 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM on Sundays. These extended hours will end at 12:00 AM on Friday August 11.
All services will close daily at 12:00 AM. Attendants will be present at Davis Centre Library for security purposes and to monitor for noise, cell phone use and hot foods - which are not permitted in the Library.
