This year's Library Day is better than ever! Join us in the Arts Quad in front of the Dana Porter Library and in the Great Hall outside Davis Centre Library for a Fall Fair-themed day of free food and fun, including:
Feeling stressed? Take a break from your studies and boost your spirits with a visit from the St. John's Ambulance therapy dogs program!
The University of Waterloo is hosting its first Keeping Well at Work Day. Visit booths to learn about all the services available at the university and for Waterloo staff, including the Library's Waterloo Reads collection. Find out what great reading titles we have to borrow and how leisure reading can support your mental wellness.
Theses and other long documents (e.g., books, manuals, reports) can present challenges that shorter documents don't. It is more difficult to maintain a standard "look and feel" throughout a long document like a thesis. This course will demonstrate features in Word that will make formatting your thesis easier and less time consuming, such as: styles, numbering headings, page numbering, captioning tables and figures, footnotes, cross references, table of contents, and lists of tables and figures.
Student Library Ambassador Leona has created a game for students test their knowledge of literary quotes. Participants will have to guess both the book title and the author to earn a point. The quotes will be divided into two categories based on difficulty level. Collect seven points to earn a ballot for Library Day prizes.
Student Library Ambassadors Karen and Dennie are teaming up to host a board games café. Play board games from the Library's collection and enjoy Halloween treats! As a special treat, Special Collections & Archives has reproduced a handmade board game from the 1890s that predicts your fortune! Spooky.
More Hidden Figures is a project that focuses notable women in STEM fields, and the role they've played in important STEM developments. Coming from a science background - where the foundational theories are, more often than not, named after men - student Library Ambassador Alexis will shine a light on women and their contributions to these fields.
Student Library Ambassadors Hinal and Haley area headed to REV, Village 1 and NRB to hand out postcards to first-year students. Take your postcards to Dana Porter and Davis Centre Library to get them stamped. Once the postcard is stamped, you can enter it for a chance to win a prize!
