collage of documements with text reading 'waterloo digital library, engage with the past, emerge with the future'

It has been said that ‘those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.’ University of Waterloo Library wants to save you from that fate, by opening up Waterloo’s history to the world.

The Waterloo Digital Library (WDL) is a new online repository for preserving and sharing select items from our unique special and archival collections, with Waterloo researchers and beyond.

Our freedom to read can never be taken for granted. Our main Library's namesake, Dana Porter, himself stood for intellectual freedom, and struck down a ban on the book Fanny Hill in 1964 while serving as Chief Justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Visit the book display in the Dana Porter and Davis Centre libraries to learn more about Freedom to Read Week and check out books in our collection which have been banned or challenged.
