John Detwiler was a professor of applied biology at the University of Western Ontario and a dedicated conservationist. His fonds contains material relating to his biology, zoology and conservation interests and activities from to 1919-1965, including documentation of Ontario fish hatchery investigations and brook trout feeding experiments.
|Hynes, H.B.N. fonds||
Noel Hynes, (1917-2009), was an internationally renowned biologist credited with founding the field of lotic limnology, the study of flowing fresh water. He came to the University of Waterloo in 1964 and was the founding chair of the Department of Biology. He pioneered the field of modern stream ecology and was the first to show how food webs in streams depend on the surrounding landscape and how pollution changes them.
