Found in his Poems: songs and sonnets (Leeds, 1833) (Catalogued as G1806 Rare Book).
This poem figures as the end part of the poem ‘Religious Differences’, which was published in Derwent Coleridge’s posthumous edition of his brother Hartley’s poems (London: E.Moxon, 1851; vol. II, pp. 350-1). The whole poem is 39 lines.
The poem is titled, "Lines (unpublished) written to a friend after a discussion on points of faith"; it must therefore have been inscribed between 1833 and 1851.
