Authors and Artists: The Creative Process

Special Collections & Archives holds a broad range of papers of twentieth-century Canadian authors of poetry, fiction, non-fiction and drama, as well as of artists. These archives contain varying quantities of hand-written manuscripts, typescripts, computer output, drafts, revisions and proofs, sketchbooks, idea books, original illustrations and artworks, documenting all stages of the creative process. They also contain correspondence with colleagues, family, friends and publishers, diaries, biographical information, reviews, criticism and interpretation, clippings, published works, research materials, ephemera and photographs. Collaborative creative projects in book production combining art and text are also present.
