Local Futures Project Launch

Join Us to launch Local Futures

Canadian communities face a number of urgent economic, social, and environmental challenges that will reverberate for decades to come. Health pandemics and inadequate local health systems, climate-induced disaster, and new economic models based on artificial intelligence are but a few of the major transformations our communities face today.

Join us as we launch the Local Futures project, exploring how universities, municipalities, and community organizations can work collectively to leverage the Sustainable Development Goals and drive impact towards creating a more prosperous and sustainable future.

The event will be held on March 5, 2025 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EST.

The event will feature a panel discussion with:

  • Julie Wright – Ward 7 Councillor, City of Waterloo + National Director, Our Living Waters
  • Randy Sa’d – Executive Director, REFOCUS
  • Lisa Attygalle - Consulting Director of Community Engagement, Tamarack Institute
  • Jon Beale (moderator) – Program Director, Local Futures

  • In-person at the Grebel Gallery, 4th Floor Conrad Grebel University College, 140 Westmount Rd. North, Waterloo, ON.
